Famous Nigerian singer Folarin Falana fondly called Falz has talked about the first year anniversary of the October 20th massacre at Lekki Toll Gate.
Today marks exactly one year when Nigerian youth rose up to fight against police brutality in Nigeria. The popular slogan #EndSARS called for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a notorious unit of the Nigerian Police with a long list of gruesome assaults.
On 20th October 2020, there was a shooting at Lekki Toll Gate where several innocent and unarmed Nigerians who protested against the SARS abuses were killed.
It’s barely a year now and Falz has taken to his Instagram page to mark this day. He penned down a message in honour of the sacrifice some Nigerian youth made whiles they fought for a bigger cause.
He wrote;
365 days ago, Nigerian citizens were shot and killed at the toll gate by our own military men.
Today we honour them because they have sacrificed their very existence for a cause bigger than all of us.
They live forever in our hearts
We will never ever forget
