    The Most Important Life Lessons

There is no BIG ‘secret’ about how to live your life. Every life has its own story and they are all different and unique.

Unfortunately, we forget to live every day to the fullest. We restrain ourselves from eating that cookie because we gained a little weight. We judge ourselves for making some decision when, in fact, we only get this one life and one chance at living happily.

As I am writing this, I am coming to the conclusion that in fact, I have also forgotten some of the simplest and yet so complex lifetime lessons.

So here they are, and I hope you are ready to make a change in your life, because I know I am making one.

    1. Now is a Present moment, so Be Present 100% in the right Now.

We often sit in a café, drink coffee with our friends, when suddenly, we turn off.  Our mind starts to travel in yesterdays’ worries, in what tomorrow will bring, and we start to lose the Now, we forget that the coffee is cooling down and the conversation is slipping away.

Is there something we can do to change the past? No. Can we know for sure what the future brings? No. What we can do is be present in the now, listen to our friends when they talk, reply, and be in the conversation. Just don’t overthink it, but seize the present moment.

    2. Happy Heart is a result of Thankful Heart.

When was the last time you took a moment to be thankful for anything at all? We have all these devices – connection to the internet, connection to our family and friends across the world. We have water to drink every day and food to share with our loved ones. And we have our pets that can’t wait to see us after our long day at work, but we don’ have a single moment to be thankful.

Let’s try to separate a few minutes of our day and be grateful for everything in our life. Having these few moments is a blessing, so start appreciating what life gives you.

    3. You need to take care of both your physical & mental health.

Healthy food, enough sleep, regular exercise, stress management, regular medical check-ups, social life, meditation, massages, walking or hiking – do you do any of these things?

Taking good care of your well-being is essential to your growth. Find time to eat at least one apple a day, or instead of sitting in a chair and drinking your coffee with your friend, make it a ‘to go’ and take a walk in the nearest park.

    4. Not everything is a priority.

Our biggest fear shouldn’t be from failure, but from succeeding in things that don’t really matter to us. We give ourselves assignments and not all of them fulfill us, but just take up our time. Have you tried to separate what is good for you and what is important from all the little things that take up your time?

We can’t do it all at one time and that is totally fine. But we can do just a few things and master them.

    5. Overworking is the plague of the 21st Century.

Working long and hard or quality working? Don’t get me wrong, I admire hard work, but when it comes to our health, it’s dangerous to prioritize the hours you are working over the quality of the work.

It all comes down to balance. So, I advise you to set yourself up for a healthier and more productive work schedule. Don’t over exhaust your body and mind, save them, recharge them, and nourish them.

    6. You will earn trust when your actions meet your words.

All of us talk about what kind of person we are, what we are going to do next, or what we are going to change in our life, but how many of us take action and live up to the words?

We keep comforting ourselves with words, but action is what defines us. We talk to our loved ones about the things we are going to do, but do we actually do them? Try to ask yourself this question and you will be shocked by how little action we take.

Remember, always live up to your words.

    7. A good traveler enjoys the journey, not the destination.

We all rush into getting things done. We want to reach an end-goal and we just run towards it. We focus on the end-goals and not on loving the journey that leads us there. But, we must love what we do in order to get it done.

Sometimes it’s okay to stop and smell the roses, after all, Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?
