Someone Created A Real Gun Based On The Fake Gun Used In The “Duck Hunt” Game

Do you remember the well-known Duck Hunt game from your childhood?

Well, someone decided to let their imagination run wild and created a real gun based on the fake gun used in the popular Nintendo’s Duck Hunt game. The result? A cool-looking, but also a very dangerous weapon that should not be played with.

If you have no clue what I am talking about, Duck Hunt is a 1984 light gun shooter video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) video game console.

The players in the game use the toy gun, NES Zapper in combination with a CRT television to shoot ducks that appear on the screen. The ducks appear one or two at a time, and the player is given three shots to shoot them down. The player receives points upon shooting each duck. If the player shoots the required number of ducks in a single round, the player will advance to the next round; otherwise, the player will receive a game over.

Well, two years ago, someone decided to clone the infamous, NES Zapper that is best known for its compatibility with Duck Hunt, and create a real gun. The model was published on YouTube by Miculek.com back in 2016, as a part of his project.

And as it turned out, the 2016 NES Zapper glock served as an inspiration for another artist to do the same. That is when the second one came out. It was recently created by Precision Syndicate of Midland, Texas. The gun was immediately published on their Facebook page with the comment “We weren’t the first to do it, but WOW, this glock turned out good,”

Their version of the Zapper was classic grey and red with the Nintendo zapper printed on the side and it was unlike the early version of the US NES Zappper that was released in bright orange. The reason? The company feared that releasing an original NES Zapper glock might put children or even adults in grave danger if they mistake it for a toy Zapper.

People’s reactions to the photos were mixed. While some were admiring the fine work and asking how much it costs, others didn’t hesitate to share their concerns about what would happen if a child accidentally came near one thinking it is just a toy. Very quickly, the public debate turned into a big drama which led the company to make an official statement on their Facebook page:

“In light of the “Nintendo Glock” drama, we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass-produced nor will it ever be. This is a one-off custom build for a friend of ours. Do to the thousands of emails and messages we have received in the past 2 days we have been unable to contact everyone in a timely manner, please be patient we will get to you as soon as possible. Thank you all for your support! Oh, and please.. keep your guns locked up and away from children, it’s common sense.”

So, there you have it. If you by any chance, consider starting your own business of mass-producing other custom-made models of the NES zapper glocks, have in mind that you might eventually be discovered and sued by Nintendo, which is well known for being extremely protective when it comes to its image.
