The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called off the peace walk that was set to take place to mark the healing of the state.

Sanwo-Olu had asked a few celebrities, youngsters, civil society organizations, and the media to participate in the peace walk with him.

Notwithstanding the governor’s claims that it will mark a new beginning for the state, a few persons publicly declined the invitation.

Sanwo-Olu stated at a press conference on Thursday that the peace walk had been canceled due to an increase in instances of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

He said: “We chose to be guided not by our emotions, but expert opinions rooted in science. Between Tuesday 30, November 2021 that I made my address, and now, we have seen a significant rise in cases associated with the Omicron variant of this pandemic.

“Given this development, I am constrained to stand down all preparations for the walk for peace. I will not endanger the life of any Lagosian in my sincere search for peace,”

In other news, Nigerian record producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy has revealed the role his fomer label mate, Dbanj played in his music career.

In a recent interview with Olajide Adesope dubbed: “Don Jazzy on Afrobeats Podcast 50th Exclusive Edition”, the Don Jazzy gave credit to Dbanj, the Kokomaster, for helping him out with his drive for success.

He said: “Dbanj is the creator/catalyst. If you leave me, every situation I’m in, it’s like I’m contented, I’m okay there.

“But Dbanj saw me and everything that people see in me now. He just sparked it in me.

“Left to me, I would have just been where I was and not do much about it. So, I would say he was that catalyst that said ‘Jazzy do this and that’.

“He ensured I achieved the things I did. He sold the idea of us coming back to Nigeria and that we did.”
