In a shocking turn of events, a suspected ritualist identified as Ifasoji Ayangbesan has attempted to bribe policemen with a whopping sum of N1 million over the killing of one Ms Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The victim was reportedly murdered on January 28, 2023, by Ayangbesan and other members of a notorious ritualist syndicate.

According to reports, the ritualists allegedly dismembered Adeyemi’s body and sold it to some people.

However, the long arm of the law caught up with the suspects, and they were arrested by the police.

In a bid to evade justice, Ayangbesan tried to bribe the policemen who arrested him with a sum of N1 million.

But the policemen, who were undeterred by the bribe attempt, immediately arrested Ayangbesan and charged him to court.

While other suspects were arrested since January, 35-year-old Ayangbesan had been at large, but he was arrested “following painstaking and intelligence-based investigation embarked upon by detectives from Obalende divisional headquarters.”

Oyeyemi disclosed that his colleagues, who were earlier arrested, had indicted him as “the one who bought the two legs of the 26-year-old victim,” so he escaped when he heard that he had been mentioned.

Since then, the DPO of Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, and his detectives had been on the trail of the fleeing suspect, with a view to arresting and prosecuting him with his colleagues in crime.

While the suspect was being interrogated, he confessed being a member of “the syndicate that killed Oyindamola Adeyemi, and that he was the person who severed the two legs of the deceased which he claimed he used for ritual purpose.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has directed the transfer of the suspect to the State CIID for prosecution.
