Charly Boy raises alarm over disappearance of new naira notes

Charles Oputa, professionally known as Charly Boy, a veteran Nigerian artist, has raised alarm over the freshly redesigned N1000, N500, and N200 notes that have seemingly gone out of circulation.

Earlier reported by Skabash, the Supreme Court declared in March that the previous form of the Naira notes will be lawful tender alongside the new Naira notes until December 31, 2023.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s instruction for the redesign of new notes and withdrawal of old notes without adequate consultation, according to Emmanuel Agim, a member of the court’s seven-man panel who read the lead judgement, is “illegal”.

However, Charly Boy stated on his Twitter page that since the Supreme Court’s verdict, only outdated notes have been circulating.

He shared a photo that reads, “I nor dey see new naira notes again oo.”

He captioned it, “Why why why? Can somebori tell me why?”
