Popularly known as ‘I am Shai’ or ‘Eja nla’, Seyi Edun is a fast-rising Nollywood actress and movie producer. She features mainly in the Yoruba movies and has grown to be reckoned with as an actress to watch.
Seyi was born and bred in Lagos although she hails from Ayetoro Egbado in Ogun State.
Seyi joined the movie industry in 2009 through her younger sister who is a scriptwriter. She was enrolled under Wisdom Caucus that same year as an apprentice and she graduated in 2011 after which focused on acting fully.
It was her sister that produced the first movie she featured in. The movie was titled, ‘Eja Nla’ in 2011.
Currently, Seyi is the founder of Shaiworld Entertainment, a movie production outfit. Her other productions include ‘Oko Mi’, ‘Ota mi’, ‘Case Closed’,’ Wonuola’ and ‘Asewo’.
The actress revealed that she often produces massively because it saves her cost and makes the work easier for her. But she does post-production one after the other with the help of social media and her marketer.
Seyi got married to Toyin Abraham’s ex-husband, Adeniyi Johnson and this generated quite a ripple on social media and it is still hot debate for Toyin’s fans as they keep trolling Seyi on social media, calling her a husband snatcher.
There were rumours that Seyi and Niyi had been in an on-going affair that led to the separation between Johnson and Abraham. But the actress has since cleared the air indicating that she met Adeniyi as a single man with their friendship blossoming into something special.
The rumours that have always trailed Seyi Edun had to do with her closeness to Niyi Johnson. The actress denied the relationship for a long time before she finally accepted that something was going on between them.
This is still hot topic when it comes to actress Toyin Abraham and her ex-husband, actor Adeniyi Johnson and their public split.
To clear the air on this issue she had this to say: “Apparently, that is untrue. People say different things from afar, but the truth is sacred. I can count how many times I set my eyes on them together with a couple or so. When I met Adeniyi, they were already separated. What is happening between Adeniyi and me is what I call destiny, whatever story that has been sold to me in that aspect I know pretty soon God will vindicate me and expose all truth. As much as I love my man, I won’t like us to discuss further on what transpired between him and his past marriage/relationships.”
She further said that they had no relationship when he was still married and things developed naturally after his divorce. “We were friends at that particular moment. As events unfolded, our friendship grew to a greater point. But now, I can categorically say that we are cool and happy together as a couple,” she said.
Concerning her fashion style, she has this to say” My fashion style is basically simple and comfortable. Once I am comfortable in it, I rock it. Public opinion of what I wear has never bothered me.”
She loves to wear bespoke outfits that are made exclusively for her. Seyi knows how rock lace and traditional ensembles like a true Yoruba lady.
