The coronavirus pandemic is taking a toll on the livelihood of people in Nigeria as the infection has negatively affected businesses. To ease the burdens on people, Nigerian actress Toyin Abraham is donating food to Nigerians across the country.
As if compounding to the problems of people, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos said that markets and stores would be shut down from Thursday, March 26, so as to properly combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria,
However, the governor noted that this closure would not affect markets that sell essential items like medical equipment, water, and foodstuff.
Following this news, many Lagosians have been advised to buy all the basic necessities they would need during the time of the lockdown. Sadly, not everyone has the resources to stock up their homes.
To ensure that people do not stay hungry while they are at home, actress Toyin Abraham decided to step up and do something about it. The mother of one has started donating foodstuff and hand sanitisers to poor Nigerians across the country.
The movie star donated 40 bags of rice and garri to people in Lagos, including 190 hand sanitisers to people on Twitter. The kind woman also gave out 50 cartons of noodles, 50 bags of rice and 100 sanitizers to people in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
Toyin Abraham sent money for foodstuff and hand sanitisers for people in Ibadan and also donated money to buy foodstuff and detergent for the less-privileged in Kano state and others in Ilorin.
The actress noted that her initiative is to encourage people to stay at home and be safe.
