My boyfriend has mouth odour. I don’t know what to do.

I will like my identity to be hidden. Thank you. I am 24 currently but I’ll be 25 next month. I have had various relationships and all ended due to one reason or another. I am not a bad person but getting along with people tend to be quite a big issue with me. I don’t know why I always quarrel with people or fallout due to one reason or the other. This has affected my relationship greatly and many times, guys don’t have long relationship with me because of one thing or another. This thing about me is that I come from a disciplined home so I have principles that I adhere to and many times, the people I meet and tend to get into a relationship with think that those principles are old and archaic. They often try to push me to go against these values and when I disagree with them, it becomes an issue which on the long run leads to our fallout.

Now I have met someone who understands me and reason things the same way I do. I am not saying that he agrees with me on everything but at least, our ideologies and beliefs are similar which makes it easy for us to get along so well. Coupled with the fact that he understands me, he is a good man and knowing him has made life a lot easier for. You know when you meet the right person, someone who doesn’t stress you, everything falls in place and you feel at peace. He makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. I love him and we both want to spend forever together. But what disturbs me is that he has mouth odour. It is a total turn off for me. The fascinating thing is that he has not had it for such a long time. I mean when I met him, he was okay.

I met him in ending of 2020 and we dated for about seven months before he developed this condition. Let me also tell you that he is a very neat person. He have stayed with him for long so I know the kind of person he is. He is very clean, he is even cleaner than I am. He is well organized and places everything in the right place. Even before this condition started, he brushes at least twice daily and up till now, he has continued. Before this thing commenced, he uses oral B which is not a bad brand of toothpaste. I have been using it for over 5 years now and I can say it is good. When it started, he tried lifestyle adjustment. He was brushing often especially after eating. He brushed at least three times daily and used some scented gum. He chew them often. It reduced a little but it didn’t entirely stop.

When it persisted, we went to the hospital to see a specialist. He examined him and recommended some drugs and toothpaste. My boyfriend has been consistent with this medication but there is almost no improvement. This situation is eating me up because it is affecting me so much. I can’t even have long conversations with him because the stench from his mouth disturbs me. This is beginning to affect our communication and relationship because of course any relationship without good communication suffers greatly. I love this man so much and I don’t have plans of leaving him because he is a very good guy and I don’t think I will ever find someone as good as him. He is just so nice. I don’t know if anyone has been in this situation before.
