Onyeka Onwenu, a veteran Nigerian performer, has detailed how she was fired from the National Centre for Women Development.

Onyeka addressed her political activity and effect so far in a recent interview with Channels TV.

Onyeka Onwenu has made numerous contributions to the country. Onyeka has worked in politics, entertainment, media, and activism, among other fields.

Onyeka described her political trajectory as follows:

“I would like to thank Ex-president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan (popularly known as mama Peace), for allowing me to lead at the National Centre for Women Development. My team and I turned the place around for the better, and money started coming into the organization. I outperformed previous Director-Generals at the agency.”

Addressing why she got removed from her position, Onyeka said,

“I could not continue because somebody did not want me there. I heard stories that I sang ‘Run, Goodluck Run’ and ‘Mama Peace’ for Jonathan and his wife, respectively. I sang both songs while I was in office at my own expense. I wrote the song, Mama Peace, for a woman I admire. I have no apology concerning both songs because she is indeed Mama peace. I am a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Some people urged the new stakeholders to retain me in the position due to my performance, but I did not struggle with fate.”
