Prominent Nigerian actor Yomi Fash Lanso has shared his reflections on the heartbreaking loss of the late singer Mohbad through his Instagram account. In his post, he delved into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing and offered insights into the music industry.

Yomi Fash Lanso also highlighted the disparity between the amiable image that many A-list celebrities project on social media and the sometimes unkind reality behind the scenes.

Paying tribute to Mohbad and addressing his death, Yomi Fash Lanso wrote:

“SIGNS OF THE TIME” Kwame Wrote

Many people have approached me seeking help to launch their children’s music careers. I have typically responded in two ways.

If I’m not very close to you, I say, “I don’t know much about the industry anymore, but I’ll inquire about what’s possible and what’s not.”

If we have a closer relationship, I advise, “Tell your child to pursue music as a hobby, not a career, because the music industry is not a healthy space for young people these days.”

I should know because I once ran a record label, Strictly Next Level Records, which introduced Bouqui, one of the finest female rappers from Nigeria, in the mid-2000s, before fully transitioning to the broadcast media.

Back then, the industry had its challenges, but believe me, it’s now even more perilous and toxic than you can imagine.

The subtle nature of music makes it a potent tool capable of infiltrating your subconscious without resistance, commandeering your thoughts without permission.

Hence, it’s alarming to see this powerful communication and indoctrination tool become a breeding ground for drug abuse, drug trafficking, money laundering, youth manipulation, gang conflicts, cultism, human sacrifices, various forms of sorcery, cybercrime, organized prostitution, and many other disturbing social ills.

What you’ve witnessed in the wake of Mohbad’s passing is just the tip of the iceberg. Many of your favorite industry figures may be social media darlings, but in real life, they can be ruthless and exhibit borderline psychopathic behavior.

All you need to do is listen closely to the lyrics of many songs, and you’ll uncover hidden messages and violent street codes that may have escaped your notice until now. Ironically, many of these artists have roots in churches, but a lack of support structures, platforms, and systemic exploitation and undervaluation of their talents drive them away from their faith communities toward the secular world.”
